Dear Year 1 Parents,

Welcome Back
Term 4 at Danebank is going to be just fabulous with so much to look forward to and anticipate over the next nine weeks. We have... Swimming lessons, Gray Fundraising Day for CMS, Nativity concert, Carols Night, choir performances, assemblies, Picnic Day and Speech Night for everyone on the very last day of the school year (Wednesday 6th December).

Have a fabulous week, and prayers for God’s richest of blessings for the children, our families and for all that lies ahead for Term 4 at Danebank.

Kind regards,
Mrs Lena Cooper and Mrs Alison Larkin

Uniform Reminders
It was lovely to see the children returning to school this week in their summer uniforms. They looked fresh and ready for the new term. All children must wear a Danebank sun hat. If it has been lost or damaged, a new one will need to be purchased for Term 4. Sunhats are available from the Uniform Shop.

Year 1 look smart in their new Summer uniforms. Girls must also wear the white socks with the pink stripe. These can be purchased from Rainier. If girls are wearing the old Summer uniform, they may wear plain white ankle socks that turn over once. We have noticed that some girls have grown during winter and their summer uniform is now too short. We would ask parents to let hems down this weekend if your daughter’s uniform is above the knee. The blazer is not compulsory with the summer uniform but can be worn for warmth if needed.

On a Wednesday and Friday, the tracksuit top can be worn to school for Sport for warmth. Tracksuit pants can be worn over the shorts if it is cool but they are not compulsory in summer. They must also wear short white socks and not ankle socks. Sports shoes must also be white. They are available in shops and we would ask that all children wear them as part of their sports uniform.

All children are required to wear all parts of their uniform correctly. Please encourage your daughter to have their shoes polished on a weekly basis and they must have a neat hairstyle at all times. Please assist the school in maintaining a high standard of uniform and fine reputation in our community.

Hair Accessories
As beautiful as these big, colourful bows and clips look, they are not part of the uniform. Hair accessories are required to be understated. The ribbon sold through the uniform shop is perfect or a similar width in white is acceptable.

Please ensure that your daughter's hair accessories are in line with the uniform expectations.

Yellow Raincoats
Students need to keep a yellow raincoat in their school bag at all times. This is especially useful in inclement weather. Students need to wear yellow raincoats due to safety reasons. During wet weather, students will be lining up on the ramp outside the modular and staff will announce your daughter’s name for the drive through. Please ensure you have your child’s car sign prominently displayed on your car dash board. If you require a new sign, please contact the Junior School office.

Music Showcase

Our 2017 Music Showcase is next Wednesday 25 October. Many of our talented students will be performing and entertaining us through singing, dancing and instrumental items. Please join us for an evening which begins at 6:30pm in the PAC.

Munch and Move
Munch: This month we are working on eating more fruit and Vegetables. Fruit and vegetables are a good source of vitamins, minerals and dietary fibre. Including more fruit and vegetables as part of a balanced diet can help children grow and develop, improve vitality and may prevent a range of chronic disease, such as Type 2 Diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and some forms of cancer.

Nativity Costumes and white T-shirts for performers
Our Infants Nativity play will be presented on Wednesday 22nd November at 2pm in the Danebank Performing Arts Centre. Our Stage 1 students have been excitedly rehearsing for their performance.

Year 1 students will be wearing a plain white t- shirt and their Danebank sports shorts with white socks and white sports shoes for the performance. Please label your child's white t-shirt. We encourage all students to return their white t-shirt to school by Friday 10th November so that the children can rehearse in them. Thank you to the students who have returned their white T-shirts to school.

Samaritan’s Purse- Operation Christmas Child
Danebank is hoping to make a difference to a child’s life this Christmas. We are supporting Operation Christmas Child, which is a unique project of Samaritan’s Purse that brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes
Please be generous by lovingly packing shoe boxes with gifts – simple, yet powerful messages of God’s unconditional love.

1  Please fill a medium shoe-box no larger than 210mm x 297 mm x 110mm deep. Wrap the lid and box separately with colourful Christmas wrapping paper.
Choose the age and gender of the child you want to give your box to, mark the age and gender on the label and stick the label on the box. Labels are available from the website or see your class teacher.

3Choose simple gifts that will bring delight to a child.
Boxes could include:-
  • Something to love (e.g. soft toy)
  •  Something to play with (e.g. skipping rope, balls)
  • Something for school (pencils, notebook, stickers, pencil case)
  • Something for personal hygiene (e.g. bar of soap (not liquid), toothbrush)
  • Something special (e.g. Carry bag, sunglasses, bangles, necklaces, stickers)
  • We encourage students/families to include an encouraging message.
  • Don’t forget to include $10.00 cash, cheque or credit card details to help cover the transport costs involved in getting the boxes to the children.
  • Please do not include food, fragile items, toy guns or knives, toothpaste, candles, playing cards or items that require batteries. For further details: http://operationchristmaschild.org.au/
