Term 4 Weeks 3-4

Dear Year 1 Parents,

We are pleased Year 1 students have smoothly settled into Year 1 work routines. We have had a busy week of learning and discovery. We hope you enjoy the photos of Year 1 girls hard at work.

Kind regards,
Mrs Lena Cooper and Mrs Alison Larkin
Year 1 Teachers

Cowell House Fundraising for Bible Society
The Junior School will be fundraising for Church Missionary Society on Wednesday 8th November. Students are encouraged to bring in a $2 donation and wear sparkly clothes and/or accessories. Girls must wear closed shoes.

As Year 1 have Swimming on Wednesday. Students may wear their Danebank swimmers under their mufti clothes. We look forward to raising much needed funds for Bible Society. Thank you for your support with Bible Society.

Nativity Costumes and white T-shirts for performers
Our Infants Nativity play will be presented on Wednesday 22nd November at 2pm in the Danebank Performing Arts Centre. Our Stage 1 students have been excitedly rehearsing for their performance.

Students will be wearing a plain white t- shirt and their Danebank sports shorts with white socks and white sports shoes for the performance. Please label your child's white t-shirt. We encourage all students to return their white t-shirt to school by Friday 10h November so that the children can rehearse in them. Thank you to the students who have returned their white T-shirts to school.

Crunch and Munch- Healthy Snacks for your Child’s Lunch Box
We always encourage students to eat healthy snacks. Young children can more easily meet their nutrition needs if healthy snacks are offered between meals. Offering small, planned snacks is much better than allowing children to graze between meals.
Easy and healthy snack ideas include:
• fresh, frozen, canned or dried fruit
• plain or fruit yoghurt
• small fruit muffin
• custard
• corn or rice cakes with avocado
• sushi
• vegetable sticks with dip
• wholegrain cracker with cheese

Weeks 3 and 4 in Year 1:
Mathematics- Fractions, Chance, Multiplication and Division.
Writing- We continued our unit of work on Grandparents. Students read ‘Grandpa’s Slippers’ and ‘Grandad’s Teeth’ by Joy Watson.
